Sewing for Two, Your Child and You

Service Description

The cost of this classes covers one adult and one child. In this 5 week class students will learn how to use a sewing machine, read a pattern, and create a simple article of clothing. You will also learn to identify the sewing machine parts, use an iron, and think about exploring designing in order to make your own clothing. This class is for students who are 9+. Students will learn how to: Thread a sewing machine. Measure to determine sizes ​Lay out a pattern on fabric. Read and interpret the instructions of a pattern. The projects are a tote bag and pajama pants. Supplies Students Will Need: We will provide sewing machines, scissors, pins, patterns and other sewing supplies. You will be responsible for the, material, and thread needed. We will discuss what you will need in the first class so there will be plenty of time to purchase it. Class Breakdown Week one: Introduction to the sewing machine Getting to know the ins and outs out your sewing machine. Sewing on notebook paper (lines) Learning the different stitch patterns (straight line, zigzag, overlock, etc.) Week 2 & 3: sewing project (Tote Bags) How to cut fabric Sewing from a template Reading a template Pinning your fabric Week 4 & 5: sewing project How to cut fabric Taking your own measurements Sewing from a pattern Reading a pattern Pinning your fabric ​ Cancelation Policy Students will receive a refund of tuition minus 10% if the student contacts us no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations up to 48 hours before the start of the class will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations within 48 hours before the start of the class, or after the class has begun will not be refunded. In the case of an emergency, the student may be able to transfer their payment towards another class based on availability. Class sizes are limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, we are unable to prorate students for missed classes or classes that they are unable to attend.
